These terms are the agreement between you and Dev_K ("we", "us") covering your use of the PaperScreen app on Android, iOS, iPadOS and macOS. By installing or using PaperScreen, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please uninstall the app.
How we handle data is covered separately in the PaperScreen Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Read this first: PaperScreen is a comfort and habit tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any eye condition. See section 4.
PaperScreen applies a paper-like display filter to reduce glare and harshness, and prompts you to take breaks — the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds) and a stand-up reminder that defaults to once per hour. On macOS it can be controlled from the menu bar, and on all platforms it can start with your device and run in the background so your filter and schedule stay active.
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in some EEA countries) to use PaperScreen. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with a parent or guardian's permission, and they accept these terms on your behalf. Only an adult may buy a subscription.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use PaperScreen on devices you own or control, as permitted by the rules of the app store you installed it from. You may not:
We own PaperScreen and everything in it — code, design, the glass interface, paper textures, name and logo. This licence gives you the right to use the app; it does not transfer ownership of anything.
PaperScreen is a general wellness and comfort tool. It is not a medical device and gives no medical advice.
PaperScreen schedules reminders through your operating system. Mobile and desktop systems are allowed to delay, batch or suppress background work and notifications to save battery — and they do, especially under aggressive battery-optimisation settings, Focus or Do Not Disturb modes, or after a forced quit.
So: reminders may be late, or occasionally missed. Do not rely on PaperScreen for anything time-critical — medication, appointments, deadlines or safety. It is a nudge, not an alarm system.
Similarly, the paper filter may be suspended by the operating system in some contexts, including DRM-protected video, secure input fields, full-screen games, and system dialogs. That is the platform's decision, not a defect in the app.
The free version of PaperScreen is supported by ads served through Unity LevelPlay mediation, including banner, interstitial and rewarded formats. By using the free version you agree to see ads and to the advertising data collection described in the Privacy Policy.
We do not control the content of third-party ads and do not endorse the products advertised. If you see an ad that is offensive, misleading or broken, tell us at wekstuff@gmail.com with a screenshot and we will report it upstream.
Rewarded ads grant temporary access to a feature in exchange for watching a video. Rewards have no cash value, cannot be exchanged or transferred, and may be changed or discontinued.
Pro unlocks the full feature set — custom paper profiles, custom reminder intervals and schedules, advanced controls — and removes ads.
pro_monthly) and yearly (pro_yearly). Current prices are shown in the app before you confirm, in your local currency. We may change prices or move features between the free and Pro tiers. Price changes affecting an existing subscription take effect only at the next renewal, and the store will notify you and, where required, ask for your consent before charging the new price. We will not take away a feature you are currently paying for without telling you in advance and giving you a chance to cancel.
We may update PaperScreen to fix bugs, follow new OS requirements, or add features. Your platform may install updates automatically. We may also change, suspend or discontinue the app or any feature — including ending support for an OS version or a device. If we discontinue the app entirely, we will stop new subscription sign-ups and let existing subscriptions run to the end of their paid period.
PaperScreen relies on the Apple App Store, Google Play, Google Play services and Unity LevelPlay/Unity Ads. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their acts or failures.
PaperScreen is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or OS version, or that reminders will always fire on time.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, and statutory consumer guarantees — including under EU consumer law, the UK Consumer Rights Act, the Australian Consumer Law and India's Consumer Protection Act — apply regardless of anything in this section. Nothing here limits those rights.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost productivity, arising from your use of or inability to use PaperScreen — including any missed reminder or any health outcome.
Our total liability for any claim relating to PaperScreen is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the app, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
You may stop using PaperScreen at any time by uninstalling it (cancel any subscription separately, in the store). We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these terms — for example by tampering with subscription validation or faking ad impressions. Sections 3, 4, 10, 11, 12 and 16 survive termination.
For copies obtained through the Apple App Store:
For copies obtained through Google Play, these terms are between you and Dev_K only. Google is not a party and is not responsible for PaperScreen. Google Play's Terms of Service also apply to your download and any purchase.
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the publisher has its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where your law gives you that right.
Before starting formal proceedings, please write to wekstuff@gmail.com. Most problems are faster to fix than to litigate.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dev_K about PaperScreen. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them as part of a transfer of the app, on notice to you.
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use PaperScreen after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, uninstall the app and cancel any subscription.
