Showbeam Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

Showbeam keeps everything on your Mac. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no network access of its own. Nothing you record, draw, type or say is sent to us or to anyone else unless you choose to share an exported file yourself.

What Showbeam records, and where it goes

All of this is saved in your take, in ~/Movies/Showbeam on your Mac, and stays there. You can delete any take from Showbeam's Library or the Finder.

Speech and on-device intelligence

Captions, the Tighten pass, chapter suggestions and teleprompter voice-follow use Apple's on-device speech recognition and, where available, Apple Intelligence on your Mac. Showbeam asks before downloading a speech model, which comes from Apple through macOS. Your audio and transcripts are not sent to us.

Permissions

Showbeam asks for each permission only when you first use the feature that needs it: Screen & System Audio Recording when you first record, Microphone and Camera when you turn them on, Input Monitoring when you turn on Keys, and Speech Recognition when you first transcribe or use voice-follow. You can change any of them in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.

Purchases

Showbeam Full and the 14-day Trial are bought through the Mac App Store. Apple processes the purchase; we receive no payment details and no personal information from it.

Data we collect

None. Showbeam does not collect, store or share personal data on any server, and contains no third-party analytics or advertising code. Crash reports are shared with developers only if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in macOS, and are handled by Apple.

Children

Showbeam does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
