StudyMaster Privacy Policy
Effective date: 11 October 2026
StudyMaster is a study planner for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, made by Devvrat Kalia ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: your study stays on your device.
In short
- No ads. StudyMaster shows no advertising and contains no advertising code.
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for or log in to.
- No tracking, no analytics. We don't follow what you do in the app, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. We receive no data about you or how you use StudyMaster.
- Your data stays on your device. Your study data and voice recordings are stored only on your device. StudyMaster never sends them to us or to anyone else.
- Android only: Google's text-recognition component may send Google technical diagnostics when you scan a page. See Text recognition on Android.
What StudyMaster stores, and where
StudyMaster keeps everything it needs on your device, inside the app's own storage:
- your subjects, topics, exam dates, key points and recall questions;
- your review schedule, ratings, study sessions and streaks;
- your settings, such as your daily goal, reminder times and appearance;
- your voice recaps, the recordings you choose to make.
None of this is uploaded anywhere by StudyMaster. We have no servers that hold your data, so we cannot see, read or recover it.
Deleting your data. You can delete subjects, topics and recordings in the app at any time. Uninstalling StudyMaster removes everything it stored on that device. Files you exported and your device's own backups are not affected (see below).
Device backups. If your device's own backup is turned on, it can include StudyMaster's data, as it does for any app. This covers iCloud Backup on iPhone and iPad, a backup of your Mac, and Android's backup to your Google account (which leaves out voice recordings). Those backups are controlled by you and Apple or Google under their terms. We have no access to them.
Upgrading from the earlier Android app. When StudyMaster 2.0 replaces the earlier Android version, it reads that version's data on your device to bring your subjects, topics and history across. Nothing leaves the device during the import.
Backups you make yourself
Export Backup creates a single file containing your study data and voice recaps. You decide where it goes: Files, a folder on your Mac, another app, a message or a cloud drive you choose. Import Backup reads a file you pick. We never receive these files. Anything you send them to handles them under its own privacy terms.
Sharing a single voice recap works the same way: it goes only where you send it.
Purchases
StudyMaster Pro is sold through Apple's App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment. We never see your name, payment card or billing details.
On your device, the app asks the store whether you have an active subscription or a lifetime purchase, and when it renews or ends. It uses that answer only to unlock Pro and to remind you before a free trial ends. It keeps a copy of that status on the device so that Pro keeps working offline.
Apple's and Google's handling of your purchases is covered by their privacy policies.
Permissions
StudyMaster only asks for access it needs, at the moment it needs it, and works without any of it:
- Microphone. Used only while you are recording a voice recap. Recordings are saved on your device and are never uploaded.
- Camera and photos. Used only when you choose Scan Contents Page to turn a book's contents page into topics. The image is read on your device: by Apple's on-device text recognition on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and by Google's on-device text recognition on Android. StudyMaster keeps only the topic names you confirm. The photo isn't saved with your study data or added to your photo library. On Mac, you choose or drop an image file instead.
- Notifications. Study reminders, exam countdowns, the focus-session alert and the free-trial reminder are scheduled on your device. No notification content passes through any server.
- Do Not Disturb (Android, optional). If you turn on Silence notifications during focus blocks and allow it in system settings, StudyMaster switches its own Do Not Disturb mode on while a focus block runs and off when it ends. It doesn't read your notifications or change your other Do Not Disturb settings.
- Siri and Shortcuts (Apple devices). StudyMaster offers a Start Focus Block action you can use in your own shortcuts and Focus automations. Running it opens StudyMaster and starts your next block; nothing is shared with Apple beyond what Siri and Shortcuts normally handle.
- Alarms and reminders (Android). Used to deliver the end-of-session alert on time. If you decline, the alert may arrive a little late.
Text recognition on Android
On Android, Scan Contents Page uses Google ML Kit. ML Kit reads the text on your device; your photo and its text are not sent anywhere.
Like other Google ML Kit features, the component itself may send Google limited technical diagnostics about how it is running:
- device model and Android version;
- StudyMaster's package name and version;
- identifiers that Google says are not meant to identify you;
- performance figures and error codes.
Google uses this data to maintain and improve ML Kit. It says the data is encrypted in transit and not shared with third parties. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure.
We do not receive this data. This does not happen on iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Contacting us
If you email us, for example with Settings › Contact Support, we receive your email address and whatever you write. That message includes the app version in its subject line. We use it only to reply to you, and we don't add you to any mailing list.

Children's privacy
StudyMaster isn't directed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
If you are a parent or guardian with a question, email us at the address above.
Your rights
We don't hold personal data about you on any server, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on our side. You are in control on your device:
- edit or delete anything in the app;
- export a backup;
- uninstall the app.
If you contacted us by email and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If StudyMaster's handling of information changes, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. If a change is significant, we will also mention it in the app's release notes.
